Buterin credits World of Warcraft as sparking Ethereum

World of Warcraft may have been the trigger for Vitalik Buterin creating the Ethereum blockchain.

According to Buterin, he was annoyed at his video game character getting “nerfed” which in gaming terms means that said character was weakened.

It was at that point Buterin realized that a centralized system was the source of his unhappiness.

The trigger-event occurred in 2010 when Blizzard, the company behind the game, removed a spell called “Siphon Life” which was apparently Buterin's favorite.

“I soon decided to quit. In 2011, searching for a new purpose in life, I discovered Bitcoin”, the world's youngest billionaire explained.

Buterin was only 15 years old when he decided to embark on creating Ethereum, a decentralized protocol with a namesake custodial currency that powers most of decentralized finance and non-fungible tokens today.

Ethereum has led to massive gamification with games such as Axie Infinity and HoneyFarm proving some of the most popular options for players.

Axie Infinity has been so popular and so successful in places such as the Philippines that legislators have started wondering if they should actually tax earnings from the game.

Ethereum gaming is certainly thriving and one of the reasons is the fact that there are many gaming platforms that accept the native currency ETH.

You can enjoy numerous gaming options at 1xBit, Bitcasino, and FortuneJack.
