VeChain revolutionizes sports tech with UFC partnership

UFC gloves embedded with VeChain-powered NFC chips will debut in June at UFC 302

Blockchain network VeChain is making waves in the world of sports technology through its pioneering partnerships and innovative products. One of its significant collaborations is with the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC), a leading name in combat sports.

Initially viewed as a branding initiative, VeChain's partnership with UFC has evolved into something more substantial. The latest development involves UFC gloves embedded with VeChain-powered NFC chips, ensuring the authenticity of products and providing immutable records for fans.

VeChain integrated NFC chips to track fight data and authenticate each pair on the VeChainThor network. The system aims to combat fraud in the secondary market for collectors. While some VeChain holders expressed enthusiasm for the development, others were skeptical about its impact on VeThor token burning.

According to VeChain, these chips, integrated into the UFC's 3EIGHT and 5EIGHT glove line, will debut in June at UFC 302 in New Jersey. Fans can scan these chips via the UFC app and website to verify the authenticity of purchased memorabilia, including details about the athletes who used them and the fights they were involved in.

VeChain's founder, Sunny Lu, described this advancement as a significant moment in community engagement. He emphasized the tangible benefits of blockchain technology, highlighting its ability to provide unique, verifiable, and authentic digital certificates stored securely on the VeChainThor blockchain.

In addition to its partnership with UFC, VeChain has recently announced a collaboration with Gresini Racing, an Italian team competing in the MotoGP World Championship. Gresini Racing has become the first enterprise user of VeChain's marketplace-as-a-service (MaaS), enabling the issuance and trading of tokens, including NFTs.

Through this partnership, Gresini Racing aims to offer fans exclusive experiences and memorabilia in digital collectible form, enhancing the presentation of its rich heritage to MotoGP enthusiasts worldwide.

Additionally, VeChain has also recently partnered with Transak. Through Transak's NFT Checkout integration, VeChain's MaaS now enables fiat-to-NFT purchases in over 160 countries, setting a low purchase limit of just $0.01—a first in the industry.

This partnership particularly benefits entities like Gresini Racing, facilitating a seamless checkout experience for their predominantly web2-native community. By abstracting away the technical complexities of blockchain transactions, VeChain and Transak are paving the way for wider adoption of blockchain tools.

The concept of ‘phygitals', blending physical and digital assets through NFC technology, further enhances the fan experience, offering a tangible yet digitally enriched memorabilia.
