Thirdverse and Blocksmith&Co to release Web 3.0 game

Blockchain gamers can buy and sell their favorite characters from the football-focused manga series.

Game developer Thirdverse has partnered with Blocksmith&Co to release a Web 3.0 game based on the Japanese manga series Captain Tsubasa.

Blocksmith&Co, a subsidiary of the game development studio KLab, is scheduled to launch Captain Tsubasa – Rivals by the end of 2022.

Based on the original Captain Tsubasa comics, the characters from the in-market game act as a generative NFT that can be trained, bought and sold as players build up their attributes.

Alongside competing against other, the main feature of Captain Tsubasa – Rivals is the ability for players to collect and exchange items for rewards.

Producer of Captain Tsubasa – Rivals Shun Fujiyoshi said: “The inspiration for this game was the feeling of wanting to play blockchain games with my favourite IP and characters.

“I am humbled to take this exciting challenge to create new game experiences together with everyone”.

The overarching aim of the new project is to bring blockchain gaming to light, now and for years to come.

“Being a part of a game using new technologies, such as the blockchain and NFTs, is something new”, said the author of Captain Tsubasa Yōichi Takahashi.

“Although the game is still in the works, I have high expectations for the experience it will bring for players. I hope that everyone will be able to enjoy this new game.”
