The Romanian Football Federation joins FIFA’s NFT platform

Other soccer federations are also expected to follow suit

The Romanian Football Federation (FRF) has entered the world of digital sports collectibles with a partnership with the Modex and FIFA+ Collect platform.

Users can purchase, sell, and trade digital soccer collectibles on FIFA+ Collect created by FIFA together with Modex. The uniqueness and authenticity of each Non-Fungible Token (NFT) are ensured by using the blockchain while offering a wide variety of digital items such as iconic moments in soccer history, players or teams among others.

The FRF said in an official statement:

“The Romanian Football Federation proudly announces a new innovative partnership with Modex and FIFA, with the aim of integrating exclusive products and benefits for supporters of the Romanian National Team on the FIFA+ Collect platform.”

FRF President Răzvan Burleanu added:

“This new platform will allow Romanian fans—and fans around the world—to access exclusive content and unique experiences like never before, bringing them even closer to the National Team.”

It should be noted that this particular move by FRF forms part of a wider plan aimed at innovation and ensuring top-quality services. Hence joining hands with FIFA+ Collect seemed the most logical step forward. With the aim of making sure that soccer fans have a strong bond with the national team, the FRF is now able to provide unique content and new more interactive ways to interact with the team.

The partnership follows FIFA’s announcement last month that the FIFA+ Collect platform will be now open to soccer clubs and federations from all over the world.

Antonio Lorenzo, who is the chief marketing officer of Modex, said he was excited to have the FRF join them as the first federation. He explained that working together will provide more engagement and give the supporters of the FRF an opportunity for exclusive experiences and merchandise. A number of other federations are also expected to follow suit after the FRF has taken the plunge into FIFA+ Collect.

Digital collectibles in sports are becoming more and more popular. For example, Formula 1’s McLaren Racing recently collaborated with crypto exchange OKX to launch the ‘Race Rewind’ digital collectible series.
