The Ledger: Operators fined, new casino games arriving

This week we saw suppliers launches and gambling companies kicking off with new promotions.

The UK’s Financial Conduct Authority and Advertising Standards Authority have come together to help consumers stay protected from fraudulent, harmful, or illegal financial promotions, many of which have to do with cryptocurrency scams. To this end, the two organizaitons launched “fin-fluencer” educational programs this week.

Again in the UK, the Gambling Commission has fined TGP Europe Limited £316,250 over anti-money laundering and social responsibility failures.

Among those failures were instances of inadequate checks on the source of funding and affordability along with inadequate interaction in the case of red flags.

The week was also filled with crypto promos. 1xBit, an established crypto betting and gambling site, launched its new tournament Super Six.

The tournament was focused on various soccer tournaments – and crypto prizes, and it’s running through May 25.

Meanwhile, the amounts of crypto attacks has picked up pace in the first quarter of 2023. However, the amount of money stolen decreased.

For one, there are more hackers probing for weaknesses, but there have been mitigating factors as well. The crypto market has slowed down (although it’s experiencing a slight upswing again) and projects have started investing heavily in security.

Play’n GO has secured an operator license in Spain this week, allowing the established studio to bring a variety of its games, including Reactoonz and Book of Dead, to the Spanish market.

Speaking of suppliers, there are many that are teaming up with crypto casinos to provide excellent value. This week, Endorphina decided to launch its online casino portfolio with Roobet.com. Endorphina brings a ton of popular games that will now be made available on Roobet.

ChatGPT is coming for your crypto casino, too! LuckyDice, an igaming platform, has integrated the language AI model into its casino chat, making for fun interactions between players and the brand.

Meanwhile, the same studio that created Axie Infinity has confirmed that it is looking to launch four new games.

This week was surprisingly quiet on the legislative front, with no major happenings. A UN report on Wednesday though, confirmed that North Korea continues to steal money at a rapid clip from crypto sources to fund its weapons program.
