Spanish telecommunications company Telefónica has started accepting cryptocurrency payments via a partnership with Spanish crypto exchange Bit2Me.
Users can now pay for items using crypto if purchased through the Telefonica marketplace, Tu.com.
In partnership with Bit2Me, the focus is to create diversity in payment options for users, also acting as an encouragement to use crypto holdings for transactions.
Telefónica is not only working with Bit2Me to incorporate crypto currencies for payment but is making an investment in the crypto firm.
However, the official amount and terms and conditions have yet to be published and will be released over the next few weeks.
This is not the telecoms giant’s first dip into Web 3.0 waters.
While being new to payments in digital currencies, the company already holds a NFT marketplace – displaying artworks of creative moguls – built on the Polygon protocol with Metamask integrations.
