League of Legends focused esports team, Team SoloMid (TSM), is moving into a new partnership in the blockchain space with tech provider Avalanche.
The pair will work on TSM’s upcoming competitive gaming platform Blitz which will leverage blockchain technology to provide video gamers with a smooth experience.
As part of the latest deal, TSM will launch a subnet that will use the AVAX token as gas. TSM will be hosting several tournaments on the Blitz subnet in a bid to promote this new type of gaming, but also shine a spotlight on the technological partners.
Blitz is built in a way that allows gamers to improve their skills and garner insights into their gameplay. The platform also features learning tools and players are further incentivized to participate in the so-called Blitz Arenas for additional prizes.
Avalanche president John Wu has welcomed the partnership and noted that the subnets his company has developed were meant to allow third-parties, such as TSM, to create powerful gaming experiences that offer a great transaction speed, scalability and security for millions of users.
TSM and Avalanche want to actively introduce more esports fans to web3 technology and gaming.
Meanwhile, TSM has severed all ties with FTX, the beleaguered cryptocurrency exchange that signed a $210m naming rights deal with the esports organization a few years back.
