Blockchain fantasy football game creator Sorare has added five English Championship sides to its roster as it launches a new competition focusing on the division.
Burnley and Norwich, who were playing Premier League football last season, have agreed a partnership with Sorare alongside Coventry City, Millwall and Watford.
Supporters of the five Championship clubs can now go head-to-head with one another and collect, trade and play its fantasy sports offering using NFTs based on each team.
Sorare head of business development Michael Meltzer said: “One of the things our users enjoy most about Sorare is the chance it gives them to act as a talent scout, identifying the next breakthrough stars before anyone else.
“Many of today’s best players began their careers outside the top five leagues and the EFL Championship is increasingly seen globally as a great source of emerging talent, so it’s important to us that our game reflects that.”
This latest set of announcements follows the addition of Spanish La Liga 2 and the French and German second divisions, all of which will form a ‘Second Division Europe’ competition.
Sorare is certainly marking its territory in sport having also recently partnered with Liverpool, Serie A side Bologna and American sport organisations Major League Baseball and the National Basketball Association.
