Socios.com announces Rugby Union expansion

Harlequins, Saracens and Leicester Tigers have become the first Rugby union clubs to partner with Socios.com as the fan token platform expands into the sport.

The deal will see all three clubs launch fan tokens via Socios’ platform as the blockchain provider continues to expand having already announced deals in football, F1 and tennis.

Socios.com CEO Alexandre Dreyfus said: “Launching in a new sport is always a big moment for Socios.com and the growth of the platform.

“The wider rugby community comprises some of the most passionate sports fans around. It has long been an ambition to launch in this area.

“Between Leicester, Harlequins and Saracens, we are partnering with three of the best-known and best-supported rugby union sides. We are looking forward to working with these teams to offer a differentiating way of engaging with their fans.”

Socios boasts deals with some of the biggest teams in sport and fans of all three clubs will now have the chance to access personal player meets or win tickets and other merchandise.

Tokens for each team will be available on Socios’ fan engagement and reward platform. Here, fans can find new opportunities to engage with the club and receive more access than ever.

More than 1.5 milllion fans from 160 countries currently connect with their favourite clubs using Socios. These include Manchester City, Barcelona, Aston Martin and the Davis Cup.

To help kickstart the engagement from Harlequins, Saracens and Leicester Tigers fans, season ticket holders from each club will be given a free fan token at the end of August.
