San Lorenzo hoping Raven NFTs will soar

Argentinian soccer side becomes first in the country to enter the world of NFTs.

Supporters of Argentinian soccer side San Lorenzo are being given the chance to collect digital works of art, NFTs, which can be used to unlock exclusive opportunities and prizes.

The club initially announced that it would be making moves into the NFT ecosystem earlier this year and a statement on San Lorenzo’s website has confirmed that the collection will go live in the coming days.

Fans of the South American club now have the chance to get their hands on one of almost 2,000 unique free Ravens (Cuervo NFTs) depicting key moments from the club’s history.

San Lorenzo has a rich 114-year history and becomes the first soccer side in Argentina to launch NFTs. The digital collaboration is with Shirtum – a specialist in Web 3.0 innovations.

Owners of these limited-edition Ravens, which come in the form of avatars, will gain access to NFT releases in the future as well as let them go head-to-head with other users.

The European-based NFT platform has strong links to Argentinian footballer Papu Gomez, who plays for Sevilla in Spain, an investor within the digital company.

San Lorenzo are just one of dozens of soccer teams around the world investing in NFT and Web 3.0 development as stakeholders look for other revenue streams and forms of fan engagement.
