La Liga side will accept more than 30 cryptocurrencies as payment with help from Crypto Snack.

RCD Espanyol will become the first major football team to accept 30 cryptocurrencies after agreeing a partnership with Crypto Snack.

Global cryptocurrency payment solution pioneer has started the first phase of its working partnership with the La Liga club in a bid to become the world’s first crypto integrated club.

More than 30 cryptocurrencies will be accepted by the club for online and offline payments – in including SNACK token – for team merchandise tickets as well as stadium food and drink.

Crypto Snack CEO Stuart Morrison said: “We’re excited to partner with RCD Espanyol to bring cryptocurrency payments directly to fans. This partnership will accelerate our plans to make cryptocurrency payments viable and scalable in the real world.”

Crypto ATMs will also be installed at the stadium as Espanyol and Crypto Snack work together to bring the football club to the forefront of tech innovation in sport.

RCD Espanyol vice principal Toni Alegre said: “RCD Espanyol is thrilled to be a pioneering football club, and the first to bring widespread cryptocurrency payments to the sport. Crypto Snack provided expert guidance, support, and technical know-how to help us make this happen.”

Founded in 2021, Crypto Snack is based in Estonia with offices around Europe. Crypto Snack believes the future of payments will be with digital currencies.
