Photo Finish Season 16 kicks off with new updates

The changes include $CROWN allocation, new race types and lower entry fees

With the beginning of Photo Finish LIVE Season 16 comes a number of updates and tweaks that are meant to make the game more fun for its users. The changes were made in light of last week’s alterations to the $CROWN reallocation, which made Photo Finish more competitive.

One of the biggest changes is grade-based racing. Grades do not always mean better competition, but they do add an extra level of strategy, especially for people focused on breeding. The popularity of playing by grades has continued into Season 15 and will be available throughout Season 16, but new race types will also be tested out to see if they can keep things fresh.

Another part of this new season’s races that got adjusted was entry fees. The Photo Finish team lowered entry fees for maiden races because they want players to have a better idea about what their horses are good at doing. Benchmark races had their fees dropped below grade-restricted stakes. Other lower benchmark prices were dropped in order to make these races more affordable, yet still challenging enough.

Claiming races finally got some attention too with overdue modifications made where necessary: high-end claiming prices went down 150,000 and below; lower-end claiming races increased so there would be different levels at which horses could compete against each other while still trying to find great deals.

Given these changes, the $CROWN rewards also went through some adjustments in order to be in tune with race competitiveness. Lower entry fee races like the lowest Claiming or Handicap races will have their $CROWN awards as well as entry rakes reduced. Conversely, higher entry fee races which are composed of Grade I/II/III or Benchmark-restricted stakes may receive higher $CROWN allocations. This prompts players to aim for more competitive races thus improving the general economy and thrill of the game.

For those who love Rising Stars events, they are now happening on the third week of the Photo Finish season. Additionally, undercards will be added within major events such as benchmark ones which can open up space for mid-tier horses looking for more chances to compete.

A new committee type has been implemented for Major Undercards, Rising Stars, and Grade Expectation, where horses that have performed well over the past 28 days will be rewarded ensuring competitive fields.

There will also be a new race type called Knockout Races. In these races, all horses apart from the winner get retired, with the entry rake going into a jackpot. This will help with keeping horse numbers under control, while also giving a competitive chance to horses nearing retirement.

Wagering has seen some improvements as well. The Photo Finish LIVE community was very supportive of the horse pick feature and in Season 15 over $82,000 worth of bets were placed on horse pick pools setting a new record.
