Photo Finish introduces new updates to $CROWN allocation

The updates tackle the rising number of parked horses, which has reached over 50% in Season 15

The virtual horse racing game Photo Finish LIVE has announced a number of changes to its $CROWN race allocation system. In an update to the community, Third Time Games CEO Ian Cummings explained that short-term strategies have been designed alongside long-term ones in order to alleviate the racing environment as a whole.

One primary area of concern is differentiating between parked horses and those that are actively racing. The problem with over 50% of horses being parked i.e., not having run a race for at least 24-48 hours was highly emphasized by Cummings. Season 15 also saw around 8,000 idle animals.

To counteract park numbers increasing alongside an imbalance in $CROWN distribution across tiers, PFL intends to redistribute more towards higher-tiered races and events. This strategy shift hopes that it will encourage people to breed better quality animals who compete at higher levels thus bringing about increased competition.

This should create a more fun and financially attractive experience for players similar to online poker where the goal is enjoyment rather than grinding through many races for minimal returns. With fewer $CROWN tokens being given away each season, but still ensuring meaningful rewards and engaging gameplay throughout the year, this move seeks a balance between rewarding users whilst not draining the $CROWN budget.

To cater to large stables which have grown both in size and complexity over time, Photo Finish LIVE has introduced some new tools. The soon-to-be-released PFL Pro system will provide a simplified spreadsheet view of stables making registration quick and easy alongside offering race suggestions based on user preferences. Initially free, the feature will later transition into being subscription-based. The idea is to save time in managing different horses while increasing active participation.

The community has been instrumental in these changes. However, CEO Ian Cummings admitted that much more needs to be done so as not only to satisfy but also to keep engaging all players.

Having set off on this new course, Photo Finish LIVE is continuing its work towards goals such as partnerships, international licensing arrangements, and mobile app development among others. Along the way, the team calls for players’ assistance because without that there could never be any growth.
