Philippines’ Bataan province partners with NChain

The memorandum of understanding supports both parties’ overarching goal to integrate blockchain technology into government services.

The Philippines’ Provincial Government of Bataan (PGB) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with global blockchain company NChain.

The aim is to establish a digital platform for the province to streamline current systems and procedures of government services.

Bataan governor Joet Garcia and NChain chairman Stefan Matthews signed the MOU under the Republic Act No. 11032, also known as the Ease of Doing Business and Efficient Government Service Delivery Act of 2018.

“NChain is committed to partnering with governments around the world to digitally transform their economies. Through this memorandum of understanding with Bataan, we are thrilled to propel the state forward by providing expert advice and blockchain-based solutions for the digitization of the state services, products, and processes using our robust intellectual property rights portfolio”, said Matthews.

With BSV blockchain powered by NChain, Bataan will benefit from an “efficient, secure and transparent system” in its quest to digitalize branches and agencies of the state, thus providing “better products and services for its people”.

When discussing the implementation of blockchain technology in government services, Garcia said the partnership with NChain will greatly benefit citizens by providing them with “fast and secure access to government services, while also ensuring the integrity of these services”.

The rollout of the new technology is expected to happen in the next few months as both firms work toward achieving their common goal of “fully enabling blockchain technology in government services”.
