Opera to launch crypto wallet

Opera is going to launch a browser-based crypto wallet that will support eight blockchains.

The blockchains supported will include Solana, Polygon, StarkEx, Celo, Nervos, IXO and Ronin and Bitcoin which will be joining Ethereum.

At the time of writing, Opera confirmed that the wallet can already access Polygon and the rest of the options will follow soon after.

The integration will first be completed on Android, but there is no exact timeline given for iOS.

Part of the change is spurred by Opera’s desire to be more environmentally conscious, which is a key mission for the company.

Minimizing carbon footprint remains part of Opera’s ultimate objective and this could happen through the mass adoption of Web 3.0, the company believes.

To attract mainstream audiences, Opera said, a complete makeover of the Web 2.0 space towards Web 3.0 would be needed.

But Web 3.0 is not necessarily safer. Just this week, Ronin reported a $625m theft which has once again raised questions about how safe the blockchain is and if it is that safe, why are eye-watering thefts continuing to happen in the first place.

Opera is determined to continue pushing ahead with the roll out of more blockchain and crypto-focused solutions for its namesake browser.

In the meantime, you can use your crypto completely safely by visiting crypto gaming websites such as 1xBit, FortuneJack or Bitcasino.
