The former Bayern Munich striker – who won nine league titles and the Champions League during his time in Germany – is OANDA’s first-ever ambassador.
The cryptocurrency exchange allows users to buy, sell, and invest BTC, ETH, and numerous other Altcoins, and believes Lewandowski is the perfect person to raise its profile.
OANDA Chief Marketing Officer Darren Moffet, said: “Robert Lewandowski is the ultimate professional.
“His playing style, which is strategic, precise, and trustworthy, fits in perfectly with OANDA's ‘smarter trading' brand promise.”
Of course, Lewandowski’s appointment as an ambassador in the crypto industry isn’t the first or last time a sportsperson will be used to gain maximum exposure on a global scale.
Just last year then-Paris Saint-Germain star Lionel Messi agreed on a deal with fellow cryptocurrency exchange Bitget to promote the brand ahead of the World Cup in Qatar.
At the time, Bitget managing director Gracy Chen, said: “We try to reflect the diversity and richness of our platform community in the partnerships we choose.
“We open up Web 3.0 to sports fans; they open the field to crypto traders. And to top it all off, we pool our resources to help those who need it. I can’t imagine it any other way.”
Bitget’s flagship product One-Click Copy Trade has amassed more than 55,000 professional traders, with around 1.1million followers, reflecting Bitget’s long-term efforts and achievements in crypto social trading.
