NFT Horse Racing platform Photo Finish Unleashes 2nd Breeding Season

Owners search for compatible mates using genetics-based breeding, resulting in unpredictable outcomes

Solana Horse-racing platform Photo Finish commences its second season as the community of virtual horse owners eagerly seek compatible mates for their horses.

Unlike traditional simulations, the game relies on genetics to determine the outcomes, making it an unpredictable and intriguing experience for players.

Questions about pairing options have been addressed, allowing stud and mare combinations. Fans are actively participating, making the most of this unique breeding opportunity.

Photo Finish, developed by Orlando-based game development studio Third Time Entertainment Inc., is a virtual horse racing game that allows users to participate in racing, breeding, and horse sales within a player-owned digital ecosystem. The game launched worldwide on April 24, 2023.

It offers an authentic and entertaining experience where players can race against real-life owners, build and breed their stable of champions, and compete for real money prizes.

The breeding system is based on NFT-based horse genetics, resulting in generations of unique offspring with accurate coat color genetics and detailed attributes like temper, speed, stamina, target distances, and preferred track conditions. Using an advanced simulated genetic breeding algorithm, each horse becomes a distinct asset with its own set of traits and genetics.

In March 2022, Third Time Entertainment secured $3.5m in funding to expand its development of mobile and browser-based blockchain games. The funding was led by London Venture Partners (LVP) and included contributions from Reciprocal Ventures, Coinbase Ventures, 6th Man Ventures, Folius Ventures, Big Brain Holdings, and Maven Capital.

Third Time Entertainment, founded by Ian Cummings, Paul Fleetwood, and Brian Fleming, used the investment to grow its team and enhance its portfolio of games that allow players to earn rewards as they play.

Back then the company had a community of around 20,000 fans. Third Time Entertainment aims to create a sustainable and rewarding economy for gamers, offering an exciting alternative to traditional free-to-play games.

Furthermore, in April, Third Time Entertainment, signed a multi-year deal with Churchill Downs, home of the Kentucky Derby, to bring the prestigious horse race to the virtual world through their virtual horse racing platform, Photo Finish™ LIVE.

Starting with this year's Kentucky Derby, players will race their owned and bred horses in month-long season events on the platform, culminating in a virtual equivalent of the Kentucky Derby. The partnership aims to revolutionize the horse racing experience and attract a new generation of fans to the sport.
