Visa hires college grads for crypto push

Visa has announced an 18-month Crypto Development Program, which aims to define the company’s crypto strategy as well as look for product opportunities.

Candidates to the new program will be given mentoring, training, networking and leadership exposure to help grow practical experience in blockchain development.

The program is separated into three teams: crypto products, partnership growth and crypto solutions. Enrolled graduates will alternate between the three departments and be replaced once they have finished the program. Each department has its own development assignments.

The application process does not limit candidates to any specific graduating field or majors but states those in computer science, business and liberal arts are preferred.

Access is limited to recent graduates between December 2021 and August 2022 with a minimum of a bachelor's degree.

Visa had announced their plans to get involved with cryptocurrencies over a year ago. It has incrementally increased its exposure and this new program looks to help it better understand the industry.

Candidates of this program will look to build Visa’s understanding of how cryptocurrency businesses operate and how it can support partnerships.

Crypto enthusiasts on social media speculate that the new program will lead to Visa becoming an incubator for new projects. These rumors come from the language used in the application for the program which shows a great deal of interest in learning how to run a cryptocurrency business and looks for new business ideas.

Visa has been concurrently working on a consulting service which will benefit from the new program. The consultation service will work with banks, businesses and merchants for digital currency payments.

Visa is one of the largest payment providers in the world. It facilitates more than 215 billion financial transactions each year.

Visa is currently accepted in over 200 countries. The introduction of Visa into the cryptocurrency industry was a huge boost for enthusiasts who wish for global digital currency payment options.
