Uniswap surpasses Bitcoin in liquidity fees

Uniswap has generated more in fees than Bitcoin in the past two days, outstripping the world’s leading cryptocurrency.

The occurrence was spotted by Evan Van Ness, a crypto blogger, who cited numbers provided by CryptoFees.

At the time, Uniswap had managed to generate $7.1m in fees compared to $4.6m for Bitcoin in the 24-hour window tracked by CryptoFees.

The development faced some initial opposition from crypto experts who remonstrated that Uniswap charges higher gas fees, hence the discrepancy.

However, Uniswap founder Hayden Adams pitched in and argued that the cited amount was the swapping fees paid to liquidity providers, and not gas fees, invalidating the argument.

The objectors do have a point that Uniswap’s gas fees, generated through Ethereum, are much higher than their Bitcoin counterparts.

Adams did mention, though, that gas prices on Ethereum continue to be a perpetual source of discomfort for consumers and that a layer-two scaling solution is needed to change that. Gas prices for contract interactions or DOX token swaps have been reported to have reached $200.

While gas prices continue to constitute a problem, there are many Bitcoin-friendly casino websites that allow you to easily tap into various benefits, such as BTC gaming.
