Uniswap adds interface to send crypto to Ukraine

Decentralized exchange (DEX) Uniswap has built an interface that enables users to swap any ERC-20 token for ethereum and donate it to the Ukrainian government.

Uniswap tweeted: “To ensure that everyone who wants to donate ERC-20 tokens to the Ukrainian government can do so, we built an interface that swaps any token for ETH and then sends it directly to the Ukrainian government in a single transaction.”

The interface was built over the last few days to help the ongoing crisis in Ukraine. The protocol added that: “Anyone who wants to donate but holds other ERC-20 tokens can do so with one click

Following the invasion of the country by the Russian military, crypto donations toward the government and NGOs have been in the millions.

Earlier in the week, a bitcoin (BTC) and ethereum address for donations was shared. Blockchain records show the addresses have received more than $8m and $7m worth of BTC and ethereum.

A tweet from the official Twitter account for Ukraine, said: “The people of Ukraine are grateful for the support and donations from the global crypto community as we protect our freedom. We are now accepting Polkadot donations too: $DOT: 1x8aa2N2Ar9SQweJv9vsuZn3WYDHu7gMQu1RePjZuBe33Hv. More cryptocurrencies to be accepted soon.”

According to Elliptic, the blockchain analytics firm, the total amount of donations passed $20m on Monday (28th February).

Alongside the donations sent to the Ukrainian government addresses, the ‘Support Ukrainian Sovereignty’ fundraiser said they have received a total of $511,000 to date.
