Tom Brady is one of the greatest NFL quarterbacks of all time. This Sunday, Tom Brady threw his 600th touchdown pass in a game against the Chicago Bears.
This was the first time in history that any quarterback has ever thrown 600 touchdown passes. Mike Evans who caught the pass did not realize the significance of the ball – he handed it to one of the fans wearing his jersey.
After, Evans’ team members tried to retrieve it, and eventually, the fan agreed and asked for a round of golf with Tom Brady in the negotiations.
It seemed he quickly realized he lost all leverage after giving away the ball, but luckily for him, Tom Brady reached out to him after.
Brady said in an interview that he is not one to keep much from his games but this ball was one of the items he wanted to save.
Brady has been a big Bitcoin and cryptocurrency fan for quite some time. In April of this year, he released his own NFT marketplace called Autograph which caters to sports player memorabilia.
The sports fan who gave back the ball will not be empty-handed. In an interview after the game, Brady said he would give the fan some NFL jerseys and other items as a thank you.
Later, Brady made a statement that he would be giving 1 Bitcoin to the fan. A whole Bitcoin is worth roughly $60,000 today and could be worth more as the market is looking positive for the end of the year.
While that sounds promising, sports auctioneers have stated that the ball will be worth anywhere between $500,000 and $900,000 in an auction. Not many predicted that Bitcoin will reach those levels any time soon.
This historic ball will also become an NFT and go on auction on the Autograph NFT marketplace. Currently, on the Autograph website, there are a few Tom Brady NFTs with his signature that will be going from anywhere between $50 to $1500 depending on their rarity.
It will be interesting to see the difference in the values between the ball and the NFT.
