Apollon FC used blockchain tokens to allow fans to bet on the team's setup in the friendly bout against Aris Limassol. To make things better, the team managed to secure a victory with the fan-drawn players.
Players ended up going with a 4-2-3-1 formation.
The team used Socios, allowing even non-savvy football fans to pick the ropes of blockchain in a moment and quickly play a decisive role in their team.
Socios.com CEO Alexandre Dreyfus has called the achievement a historic moment for fan engagement, adding:
“The friendly match against Aris Limassol was the first match ever to be powered by blockchain, with fans picking the formation and the players. I’m so proud to have delivered this level of fan engagement for our partners Apollon FC, and for the fans to have voted for the winning formation.”
Fans had to buy and use the club's own proprietor token, APL, which increased its volume by 13% during the match.

Commenting on these events, Apollon head coach Soforonis Avgousti said that he was happy with the results and excited to see the team and fans connecting in new and exciting ways.
Socios has already struck important partnerships with other sports franchises. Previously, Trabzonspor signed with the platform.
