Spain’s national soccer team is planning to launch its own fan token via a partnership between the Royal Spanish Football Federation and Turkish blockchain platform Bitci Technology.
The token will debut on Bitcichain, the company’s proprietary blockchain software, with the firm listed as the national team’s exclusive blockchain partner. Similarly, Bitci will appear on the national team’s jerseys.
That means that world-known players such as Sergio Ramos, David de Gea, and Paco Alcácer will display the Bitci logo on their jerseys during the team’s official competitions. It’s a great opportunity for the company, according to Bitci Technology founder Çağdaş Çağlar.
It is the first time a blockchain company has teamed up with a national team to produce a fan token. Although previously, Bitci Technology has struck up partnerships with Formula 1’s McLaren Racing and the Turkish national basketball team.
However, none of these sports franchises have the same reach and pull as the Spanish national soccer team. Fan tokens are proliferating among private soccer clubs too, with Barcelona, Juventus and Paris-Saint Germain all having their own dedicated token.
The $PSG and $JUV tokens hit $300m late last year. In the meantime, blockchain technology is seeping into all sorts of spheres of modern life. Today, you can just as easily play casinos and pay in crypto, including at places such as 1xBit, FortuneJack, and Bitcasino.io.
