Unikrn's chief executive discussed how blockchain, gambling and esports would converge, predicting that this is imminent and that the products born out of this match would drive innovation across the online and land-based gaming sector, i.e. casinos.
Sood, who has been long a champion of esports and blockchain, and gambling, said that it was unfortunate that it had taken a global pandemic to bring about an innovation that had been long in the making.
“We talk about esports, video games and the market opportunity with regards to betting on all aspects. The technology that we created at Unikrn enables that in venues that have been humming and hawing about experimenting,” he added.
Sood further noted that operators will now have to start digitalising their offering quickly to stay competitive.
Of course, growth without the demand to meet it would be futile and even hurt business, but according to Sood, the demand is there.
In a recent article by Sports Business Journal, the outlet weighed up whether the esports bonanza would continue after the pandemic is dealt with, and the answer was probably.
This is now reaffirmed by Sood's own opinion.
He praised the power of blockchain technology to facilitate payments and provide esports fans with a technology that matches their specific needs and expectations as newly baptised bettors.
