Polyient Games will seek to tap into esports player bases and introduce gamers to the crypto space through a new dedicated esports tournament.
The company is teaming up with Community Gaming for an NFT-focused event with $100,000 prize pool.
The games featured in the event will use NFTs, in the hope that the esports games will be used as a gateway for savvy individuals to the world of blockchain and cryptocurrencies.
Polyient is banking on gamers' love for slick digital assets, which is precisely what NFTs are.
Commenting on the news, Polyient Games co-founder Craig Russo said: “The marriage between decentralized technology and gaming will be one of the most significant themes of the coming decade. Our work with Community Gaming on this brand new decentralized tournament series serves as a major step towards bringing mainstream adoption to this new industry.”
The event will go beyond esports games to feature blockchain games such as Axie Infinity and Sky Weaver, a digital collectible trade card game based on the Ethereum blockchain. The first event is scheduled for March 29.
