Meta Platforms Inc, previously known as Facebook, has confirmed that its integrating its cryptocurrency wallet, Novi, with WhatsApp in the US.
This resembles what many Chinese social media platforms do, as they already allow digital yuan to be exchanged, bought and sent on the go, promoting faster CBDC adoption.
In WhatApp’s case, though, it’s a matter of giving access to private currencies to integrate them with mainstream finance.
Meta is not rushing the plan, starting with a limited roll out in the US. The company already launched a similar test in October, with a pilot in Guatemala testing how Novi would be received.
The company aims to reach the 1.7 billion people around the world who currently do not have a bank account.
Novi charges no extra fees for transfers and is designed to use Pax Dollars or USDP in order to carry a lightning-fast transaction anywhere in the world without slowing down business for consumers.
While Meta is advancing its work on its dedicated crypto solutions, you can kickback with crypto on your own terms and enjoy some quality gaming at Bitcasino, 1xBit or FortuneJack.
