LG Electronics launches NFT platform

LG Electronics has released its non-fungible token (NFT) platform LG Art Lab where users can sell and trade NFTs on LG’s smart TVs.

The new platform is available in the US to those with an LG TV running webOS 5.0 or later and is accessible from the home screen.

The launch comes eight months after the South Korean multinational electronics company shared its plans to incorporate NFT features into its TV models.

LG Electronics senior VP, head of platform business, Chris Jo said: “While many people have heard of NFTs and would like to participate in the growing ecosystem, it can be overly complex and difficult to get started.

LG Art Lab is designed to allow millions of users in the US to easily access and display NFTs, without having to interact with code or directly with a blockchain themselves.”

A drops feature is available on the platform featuring artist profiles and displaying new artwork previews.

Additionally, a real-time live drops feature will alert users with notifications of new NFT artwork drops so individuals won’t miss an opportunity to purchase.

Recently, LG Electronics partnered with the Hedera Network to develop a crypto wallet for smartphones named Wallypto.

“Wallypto, built on Hedera, has been developing since September 2021. Its beta version of the wallet launched this week in August”, said Jo.
