FTX to advertise during 2022 Super Bowl

Cryptocurrency exchange FTX has booked a Super Bowl advertising slot for the National Football League big game in February 2022.

FTX has been motivated by the reach potential of the Super Bowl’s ads, Bloomberg reported. It follows the exchange’s multi-year deal with Team SoloMid, a prominent North American esports organization.

FTX CEO Sam Bankman-Fried said: “There is no bigger, more mainstream event to share a message like that than the Super Bowl.”

The value of the ad deal has not been disclosed, but NBC suggests that the cost of an ad slot during Super Bowl programing is at least $6.5m for a 30-second segment.

Many traditional advertisers have opted out of Super Bowl commercials, whether because of a drop in consumer interest or other controversies surrounding the organization.

Regardless, even without Pepsi and Coke, the Super Bowl has beckoned new advertisers. Companies such as Vroom, Fiverr and Chipotle are all piling in on the advertising frenzy, using the Super Bowl as an amplifier of their brand messages.

FTX’s decision to highlight its presence during the Super Bowl is a smart one, and not least because of the company’s relationship with Tom Brady early in 2021. The partnership was described as historic at the time.

The exchange is also established in the esports space, becoming a sponsor to the League of Legends World Championship.

Meanwhile, crypto popularity continues to climb exponentially. Online casinos such as Bitcasino, 1xBit and FortuneJack attract armies of gamers who are keen to join in on the action.
