Eric Nakagawa auctions off his lolcat series

Meme godfather Eric Nakagawa has entered the NFT rave and is bringing some excellent creations along with him.

Nakagawa was the man behind the famous “I Can Has Cheezburger” cat image, establishing the meme as an internet genre, akin to the haiku.

Nakagawa joined OpenSea on February 23 where his crown jewel Happy Cat meme was auctioned off.

The entire series of 10 memes is entitled “No Fries Today,” and consists of early “lolcat” memes. To get to the auction, Nakagawa said he had to dig deep in his personal archive and find the most apt creations that were worth being sold to the public.

His entry into the NFT segment is not a chance thing either. NFTs are at an all-time high but they are only getting started. Endorsement for these digital assets is widespread, not just through cat memes, but also through sports moments and other memorabilia.

On February 23, NFTs drove $60m in daily sales, and they are only getting started. Listing on OpenSea is an opportunity for even casual content creators to monetize their work and get a chance to move onto more ambitious projects.

NFTs are definitely fun. Yet, if you want to move past this type of crypto collectibles, there are plenty of alternative gaming options for you. They include established and trusted casinos as BitStarz, 1xBit and FortuneJack where many BTC bonuses await!
