Epic Games lists first NFT game

American video game development company Epic Games, the creator of Fortnite, has listed its first non-fungible token (NFT) powered game on its Game Store.

Titled Mythical Games’ Blankos Block Party, the inaugural NFT based game is free-to-play, multiplayer, and the first Web 3.0 title to be published on Epic Games’ marketplace.

Co-developed by Mythical Games and Third Kind Games, Blankos Block Party is centred around unique collectible digital vinyl NFT toys named Blankos.

The NFTs can be bought, sold and upgraded through the game’s marketplace. However, owning an NFT is not a prerequisite to play, users can still purchase the game and interact online with others without obtaining a digital token.

In 2020, Mythical Games launched the beta for Blankos Block Party and to date, the game has already accumulated more than one million players, according to developers

Corporate companies, celebrities and artists such as Burberry, Atai and Deadmau5 have been enlisted for partnerships and limited edition NFT releases.
