Dream Sports inks five-year partnership with New Zealand cricket

Sports technology company Dream Sports has signed a five-year partnership with New Zealand cricket to mint and distribute NFTs.

The partnership gives Dream Sports rights to create digital engagement products as well as other gaming and merchandise offerings through its platform.

Digital collectible player cards, video highlights, and historical cricket moments will all be made available to New Zealand fans as it looks to boost fan engagement.

New Zealand chief executive David White said: “One of [New Zealand’s] key goals is to extend our teams’ global reach. To build closer relationships around the world, and to develop new ways for fans to engage and connect with the deep history of our sport.”

Dream Sports brand Dream11 has been New Zealand’s official fantasy sports partner since 2019 but this will be the first time Dream Sports has entered the world of NFTs. They they will do so with the help of NFT platform Rario.

Dream Sports led a $120m Series A round of investments in Rario last month through its corporate venture capital and mergers and acquisitions arm Dream Capital.

Dream Sports chief marketing officer Vikrant Mudaliar said: “We are excited about the next big leap in our association with New Zealand Cricket, and look forward to exploring its full potential for fan engagement through the Dream Sports portfolio.”

It’s the latest in a number of deals for Dream Sports having previously agreed partnerships with La Liga Santander, Cricket Australia, The Hundred and even Vivo Pro Kabaddi League.
