The NBA’s Dallas Mavericks, owned by crypto proponent and billionaire Mark Cuban, are offering a Dogecoin cashback rewards program.
“Mavs Cryptomania” will see fans who spend more than $150 worth of Dogecoin in a single transaction receive a $25 e-gift card to use for more purchases on the dedicated Dallas Mavericks shop.
The team's promotion is the latest attempt to boost awareness for the cryptocurrency and get more people involved. Anyone interested in making a Dogecoin purchase and claiming a gift card has until September 30 to do so.
The Dallas Mavericks are one of the first teams to accept Dogecoin payments. Mark Cuban, who endorses the cryptocurrency along with the likes of Ethereum's Vitalik Buterin and Tesla's Elon Musk, has been keen to bring DOGE to people's attention.
So much so, that in March he decided to allow the Mavericks to start accepting payments in Dogecoin for merchandise and game tickets.
Cuban has suggested that Dogecoin seems to be the way forward for merchandise purchases, confirming that the currency has proven very popular with users, and outperformed all other crypto options listed for buying goodies from the branded store.
Cuban though is not looking to propagate Dogecoin as a currency. Rather, he advises people to “think of them as decentralized, secure, networked platforms with features that allow for the development of apps that can have unique utility for individuals and businesses”.
Dogecoin is one of the most popular cryptocurrencies on popular crypto casinos, including Bitcasino, 1xBit and FortuneJack.
