Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin and Gitcoin have already pledged to match $50,000 for all donations made in ETH or DAI. And Alex Wilson, a representative of The Giving Block charity, wants to step efforts up further, explaining in a call-to-arms:
“We had been looking for a way to celebrate the community’s response to our campaign, something that brought people together around the idea of giving. For whatever reason a lot of people in this business seem to be poker players.”
The Giving Block’s credibility is rooted in the personalities who support the initiative. These include Joey Krug from Pantera Capital and Charlie Shrem from the Bitcoin Foundation, amongst others. Both will be joining the crypto poker tournament, alongside David Nage.
The event will get underway on April 9, 2020. Meanwhile, the hashtag #CryptoCOVID19 has been trending on Twitter, rallying the community.
More companies have shown interest in assisting the campaign and throwing support behind the cause including the Electric Coin Company, Axiom Finance, Donut App, 99Bitcoins, and many others.
