Cryptocurrency exchange Crypto.com has teamed up with the women’s soccer club Angel City Football Club in the US.
This is another high-profile partnership between a cryptocurrency exchange and sports franchise in the country. It follows hot on the heels of another new partnership for FTX.US, which has been expanding in the sports and entertainment space.
Crypto.com said the partnership was forged in an attempt to boost awareness and access to crypto, blockchain and Web 3.0.
The exchange is looking for “unique and impactful ways” to consolidate its investments in Los Angeles while continuing to build on its main objectives. One of those is the continuous financial education, empowerment, and education of women.
Angel City FC Julie Uhrman commented on the partnership and said: “We are excited to work with Crypto.com to educate our community and players on crypto and allow our players to use the power of NFTs to connect with and create a deeper relationship with their fans.”
This marks a second move into Los Angeles for Crypto.com after the company secured the naming rights for the Staples Center. The deal was valued at $700m and signed for a period of 20 years. The venue is also changing its name to reflect the partnership.
In the meantime, Crypto.com continues to gather momentum in the world of sports having signed a partnership with Latin American soccer tournament CONMEBOL Libertadores.
