Chiliz, the brand behind the blockchain digital collectibles platform Socios.com, has partnered with Argentina’s top soccer league, the Argentinian Primera Division.
As a result, the Primera Division will rebrand as “Torneo Socios.com” or “Socios.com Tournament”.
The branding will apply throughout the 2021/2022 season and is one of the most ambitious moves by Socios.com to position itself and boost awareness among soccer fans.
Argentine Football Association (AFA) president Claudio Tapia said: “We are very happy to kick off this journey with Socios.com. It is a very important agreement, since it’s the first time the Argentinian league partners with a commercial brand to rename the tournament.”
The partnership builds on an existing collaboration between the Argentinian national football team and Socios.com.
Previously, Socios.com issued fan tokens for the national team as part of its efforts to grow internationally and have blockchain-based tokens for all major soccer teams in the world.
In a similar move, Socios.com partnered up with the Portuguese Football Federation in June.
