AGA asks for payment modernisation

The American Gaming Association (AGA) has released a set of recommendations for the modernisation of the payment systems in casinos in the United States. According to the trade body, the introduction of cashless and digital payment methods is the surest way forward.

In their reporting, AGA outlined several clear benefits to adding digital payment options, and responsible gaming limits were one of those. Controlling sessions, money spent and reading more into consumer behaviour were just some of the other upsides brought up in the AGA report.

The move was backed by Eilers & Krejcik, a respected research and analytics firm which confirmed AGA’s stance and further added the benefits of adopting digital payment options. According to Eilers & Krejcik, anomalous betting patterns would alert operators to potential dangers of consumers becoming victims of problem gambling practices.

On the flipside, however, convenience can also beget gambling addiction, as being able to deposit quicker is also a risk to some trigger-happy consumers. This is a particular issue that many lawmakers across the United States have cited as the main reason not to endorse any form of mobile gaming.
