The upcoming Aavegotchi NTF project has had to be deferred due to mounting fees on the Ethereum blockchain associated with high gas costs.
In a Twitter post, the project said that the January 4 launch has not been scrapped altogether but will have to be postponed until such a time that the gas costs are acceptable.
However, another idea has been floated that the project may be migrated to the Matic Network, which is a smart-contract platform with better scaling for Ethereum.
Dropping details, the company had this to add: “Aavegotchi on L2 means no gas fees, faster transaction confirmations, and a great gaming experience.”
Aavegotchi has an interesting premise with the game using digital collectible ghost avatars based on the Aave (AAVE) token. Each ghost has a different value, which is based on numerous factors.
While some have suspected backlash, the crypto community was actually happy with the decision, citing that the $10.20 per transaction fee was way too steep to make for an enjoyable experience in the first place.
Aavegotchi is not the first project that has considered shifting entirely to Matic as a more scalable option. Other worthwhile gaming options are found on more traditional blockchain protocols, with brands such as FortuneJack, Bitcasino and 1xBit all delivering great gaming opportunities.
