Italian football giants Napoli have agreed a partnership deal with Dunamu Inc-owned cryptocurrency exchange Upbit.
The deal will see Upbit become the Serie A outfits back-of-shirt sponsor as well as its official global crypto exchange partner for the remaining season and next in all Serie A and Coppa Italia games.
Napoli’s partnership will begin on Wednesday January 4 when they face Inter Milan in the league.
SSC Napoli chief international development officer Tommaso Bianchini said: “We’re thrilled to have reached this agreement with the South Korean company Dunamu, a leader in its sector and a growing company in the Asian market.
“This partnership enshrines the union of two game-changers in their respective sectors, underlining the objective of a future vision where innovation and technology are at the heart of the project. This agreement once again confirms that the club has an eye on international markets and on the most advanced technologies, in a process of continuous improvement of our brand globally.”
Napoli will be hoping the partnership with the South Korean company will help secure the club more global viewing figures as well as potential revenue through shirt sales in the market.
Dunamu Inc CEO Sirgoo Lee added: “Dunamu is excited about our new partnership with SSC Napoli, one of the biggest and most prestigious football clubs in the world.
“We’re thankful for the warmest welcome and are thrilled to be a part of the journey together with SSC Napoli, including star defender Kim Minjae. We look forward to finding more meaningful collaborations throughout the season.”
Upbit launched in October 2017 and is currently one of the largest crypto-asset exchanges in South Korea. It was named the third most popular exchange in the world by trade volume in 2018.
