Lionel Messi joins Sorare as brand ambassador

The football player joins fellow athletes Serena Williams and Rio Ferdinand as investors in the company.

Argentinian football player Lionel Messi is now a brand ambassador and investor in the NFT card trading game Sorare.

Sorare hopes that Messi’s presence can help grow the brand, improve company relatability and

nurture the quality of interaction between the company and its users.

As part of the partnership, Messi will take a stake in the company. However, the exact amount has yet to be disclosed.

The deal also includes the integration of new experiences on the platform.

“We believe Messi will help us set new standards in how we do this, and we look forward to sharing what new content and fan experiences we’ve been collaborating on soon”, said Sorare CEO and co-founder Nicolas Julia.

This is not Sorare’s first instance of collaborating with athletes and establishing partnerships with the brand.

In January 2022, Serena Williams joined the company as its board advisor, with Rio Ferdinand, Kylian Mbappe and Gerard Pique all investing in the blockchain brand.

“Get ready for the big tournament with the @Sorare #GlobalCup22 fantasy game.

Build your squad, compete with friends and play to win!” Pique recently wrote on Twitter.
