Kick breaks record numbers in May

However, Kick co-founder Bijan Tehrani believes the platform can do even better

Streaming platform Kick has had an extraordinary year and reached its peak in May 2024. The company has continued to break its own records with the help of content creators migrating from Twitch due to the more lucrative financial terms Kick offers.

Many significant milestones were reached by Kick this month. It passed one million peak viewers for the first time ever, reaching a record-breaking 1.02m viewers, according to data from StreamsCharts. Moreover, average viewers were at 263,854 which means that monthly average viewers were above 200,000 for the third month in a row since March.

Also, active channels experienced tremendous growth. The peak hit 3.800 while averages went up to 3,000 – both being highest since July 2023.

Furthermore, cumulative monthly watch time on the platform skyrocketed to a new high — 183.8m hours watched. The previous record was set this April at 150m hours.

The most popular category on Kick remained “Just Chatting”, which contributed significantly more than any other category. This was an increase of 21% compared to last month’s numbers.

To everyone’s surprise though Grand Theft Auto V reached the second spot thanks to a 70% growth in watch time, driven mainly by marathon broadcasts from streamer drb7h. Other games that showed good performance were League Of Legends and Dota2 because they had big tournaments happening during this period so they attracted more viewership.

Among the top 10 games, there were shooting titles like Call Of Duty Warzone, Garena Free Fire, Valorant and Counter Strike 2 – all of them made significant moves upwards within the ranking. Streamers xQc, westcol, and brucedropemoff were responsible for bringing viewership up for these games.

drb7h was the most watched streamer this month thanks to his Grand Theft Auto V and Just Chatting marathons. Other top performers included ac7ionman, westcol, Adin Ross and sxb – all of them contributed significantly towards Kick’s impressive numbers.

Kick co-founder Bijan Tehrani commented that even though there has been a lot of growth, he thinks Kick can do much better than what has already been achieved. In addition, Tehrani mentioned some coming technological updates which in his opinion will greatly improve the service.

While the figures recorded by Kick may be small in comparison to those from Twitch, the platform’s ability to keep breaking records suggests that there is still a bright future ahead.
