ImmutableX to launch Immutable Passport

The all-in-one tool is expected to "drive adoption across mainstream audiences and access player analytics".

Ethereum scaling solution ImmutableX is set to launch an all-in-one system for gaming studios to onboard new gamers into web 3.0.

The Immutable Passport, scheduled to launch in April, is a non-custodial wallet, authentication solution and gamer profile, not dissimilar to that of an Apple ID or Xbox Gamertag.

It does not require a password when signing on and should speed up, as well as reduce the costs of, customer acquisition.

In short, the new features mean Immutable will not be involved in any signing transactions and does not hold its users’ passwords or private keys.

Players can access a suite of tools integrated into the Immutable Passport including a secure digital wallet, fraud protection and a seamless authentication process across web 3.0 games and marketplaces.

The tools are hoped to help web 3.0 gaming studios “drive adoption across mainstream audiences, maintain enterprise-grade security and access meaningful player analytics.”

Additionally, all studios that integrate the Immutable Passport will gain access to players in the ImmutableX ecosystem.

Customer research carried out by the ImmutableX team found that “ease of onboarding, security, compliance and plug and play features were the top priorities for development studios integrating Web3 components” into games.

Immutable president and co-founder Robbie Ferguson said: “For web3 gaming to reach a billion players, onboarding must be invisible, secure and work across any game – mobile, console or desktop.

“Passport is a self-custodial wallet, where users can sign in with just an email and one-time password – it will be a game changer for players and radically reduce user acquisition costs.”
