From virtual tracks to real profits: the rise of Photo Finish LIVE

Photo Finish LIVE has seen exponential growth, reaching $10 million in horse sales

In the world of virtual gaming, few experiences rival the excitement and thrill of horse racing. From the thundering hooves to the nail-biting finishes, it is a sport that has captivated millions around the globe. Photo Finish LIVE, an innovative project by Third Time Entertainment, takes this passion to a whole new level, offering players a chance to immerse themselves in the world of horse racing like never before.

Transforming horse racing with blockchain innovation

Photo Finish LIVE is not just another horse racing game – it is a groundbreaking platform that leverages blockchain technology to create a transparent and engaging ecosystem for players. The project has capitalized on Solana's high speed, low fees, scalability, and security features to create a robust gaming platform.

Gamers engage in horse racing competitions for actual money, breed horses utilizing a lifelike genetic mechanism, and trade them within a market operated by players.

Similar to reality, equines in Photo Finish LIVE adhere to lifecycles and to an in-game timetable where every four weeks in real life equates to one year or “season” within the game.

Led by industry veterans Ian Cummings, Paul Fleetwood, and Brian Fleming, Third Time Entertainment has established itself as a leader in the gaming space.

Cummings, the founder and CEO of Third Time Entertainment, has more than 23 years of gaming industry experience.

After beginning his career as a tester at EA Sports, Cummings shifted into game development and progressively advanced to the position of creative director within the company, laying the foundations for the future success of Photo Finish™ LIVE.

$CROWN tokens fuel player ownership

At the heart of Photo Finish LIVE is the $CROWN token, a cryptocurrency that enables ownership of racetracks within the virtual ecosystem. Players stake $CROWN tokens to own a share of racetracks and receive a percentage of race entry fees in the form of $DERBY. This innovative tokenomics model not only incentivizes participation but also fosters a sense of community ownership and investment in the ecosystem.

$DERBY serves as the exclusive in-game currency for Photo Finish LIVE, facilitating real-money racing and offering seamless conversion to $USDC at any time. Unlike cryptocurrencies, $DERBY can only be obtained by depositing funds into the game. This versatile token is utilized for various in-game transactions, including purchasing and selling horses, covering race entry fees, making picks, and more. The exchange rate remains fixed at 80 $DERBY to $1.00.

Additionally, the project has introduced the Photo Finish PFP Collection, a series of NFTs representing cartoon horse profile pictures. These NFTs serve as the foundation for breeding and creating Generation Zero racehorses, adding depth and customization to the gameplay experience.

The meteoric growth of Photo Finish™ LIVE to $10 million horse sales

Since its launch in April 2023, Photo Finish LIVE has experienced exponential growth. In September 2023, horse sales had already amounted to $2 million. By December 2023, the game had garnered more than 15 million downloads and had reached over $10 million in horse sales. The current market capitalization of the $CROWN token stands at $148.7 million.

A notable milestone for the project came about in October when Third Time Entertainment, secured $2 million in seed+ funding, led by Sfermion and joined by investors like Reciprocal Ventures and Big Brain Holdings. The funding is being used to drive product improvement, team expansion, and strategic partnerships.

Photo Finish™ LIVE gallops into the Kentucky Derby

However, one of the most notable achievements of Photo Finish LIVE is the platform’s partnership with Churchill Downs and its monthly Virtual Kentucky Derby races.

Third Time Games partnered with Churchill Downs in April 2023, making Photo Finish LIVE the official game of the Kentucky Derby in a multi-year agreement.

The partnership includes collaborations on media outreach and user acquisition campaigns to introduce horse racing fans to Web3 and digital ownership through Photo Finish LIVE.

Additionally, the agreement granted Photo Finish LIVE rights to introduce a virtual “Road to the Roses” in the game, allowing fans to potentially own a Kentucky Derby-winning thoroughbred.
