Former Twitch employee suggests Kick is advertising platform for Stake.com

The Twitch ban on gambling content is forcing Stake to look for other ways to attract punters.

A former Twitch employee has suggested that Twitch’s major competitor Kick could be using its platform to advertise the crypto casino Stake.com.

In a Twitter thread, Cyrus Hall suggested that Kick may be serving as an alternative advertising platform for Stake, which has strong ties to Kick.

He noted that with Twitch banning some gambling content, including streams of unregulated crypto casinos, Stake may be looking for a new platform to reach gamers.

Hall’s theory is supported by the fact that Kick has created a new home for some of the banned gambling streamers.

It appears that Stake is putting together its own streaming service that includes blackjack, which suggests that its goal may be to lure gamers to its crypto casino.

Twitch has been cracking down on gambling content recently, and it seems that Stake is taking advantage of this by exploring alternative platforms for advertising its services.

With the rise of crypto casinos, it remains to be seen how platforms like Twitch will adapt to these new developments.

Hall, who previously worked on Twitch’s video content delivery network, further noted that Kick uses Amazon Web Services Interactive Video Service, which he describes as the Twitch video system wrapped in AWS APIs.

Hall also argued that because Kick has to pay Twitch for this service and Amazon owns Twitch, Kick is effectively paying its biggest competitor.

The competition between streaming services Twitch and Kick has been heating up in recent months.

Kick has made significant strides in attracting streamers, particularly due to its 95/5 subscription split which has drawn in some of Twitch's biggest names.

Moreover, Kick has few restrictions on content, which means it allows crypto gambling live streams that Twitch banned last year.

Despite this, Twitch has remained competitive with new features aimed at improving monetization for streamers. These include the ad incentive program, which rewards streamers for streaming a certain number of hours and running a specific number of ads.

Additionally, at the beginning of April Twitch's chief product officer Tom Virelli teased an upcoming feature called Guest Star, which will be the next evolution of Twitch chat.

However, Kick's advantage lies in its same-day payouts to creators, which could appeal to streamers seeking to maximize their earnings.
