Former Barcelona midfielder named global SaasGo ambassador

Javier Mascherano is the latest footballer to agree a deal to create his own NFT collection.

Former Barcelona midfielder Javier Mascherano has been named as a global ambassador for leading decentralized Web3 SaaS platform SaaSGo.

As part of the deal, the Argentinian – who played 147 times for his country – will create and launch his own exclusive NFT collection via its platform.

Mascherano also played in the UK for the likes of West Ham and Liverpool and will be tasked with promoting SaasGo to assist more brands, companies and creators with one-stop Web3 solutions.

A spokesperson said: “SaaSGo is thrilled about this opportunity to unleash creativity with a real, world-class football player. We believe that while some celebrities bask in their past glory, Mascherano is looking towards the future.

“This partnership is a great illustration of Javier’s ambitions and creativity and his commitment to contribute to the future of entertainment and interact with his fans and community in the fast-emerging Web3 space.”

As part of the launch, Mascherano and SaasGo held an exclusive World Cup NFT launch event in New York with hundreds of influential industry names and talents in attendance.

Mascherano is one of several footballers launching NFT collections and or becoming ambassadors in a bid to capitalise on those focusing on the World Cup which is taking place in Qatar.

Fellow countryman Lionel Messi and former Manchester United striker Cristiano Ronaldo are two of the biggest names in the game to get involved despite the NFT market crash earlier this year.
