Fenix Games raises $150m for Web 3.0 game publishing

The Dubai-based company plans to build a “global team” forming partnerships with Web.2.0 game publishers.

Web 3.0 games publisher Fenix Games has raised $150m from Phoenix Group and Cypher Capital to create a new type of publisher for blockchain gaming.

The funds will help support the creation of a publisher and platform that will aid in bringing blockchain games to the market.

As well as building a global team and forming publishing partnerships, the Dubai-based company will focus on acquiring, investing in and publishing both existing and future blockchain games.

Fenix Games CEO and co-founder Chris Ko said: “We believe there is a substantial opportunity to leverage our collective experiences from Web 2.0 gaming coupled with asset management to bring a new publishing platform for blockchain gaming”.

The firm hopes to be in a confident position to consolidate several companies together into one single company with a portfolio to survive any stagnation that may occur within blockchain games and Web 3.0 gaming.
