Crypto Unicorns recruits Axie Infinity veteran

Former Axie Infinity director of esports Andrew “Zyori” Campbell has joined Crypto Unicorns to help it build its “multiverse”.

Laguna Games, the developer behind the successful NFT-driven Polygon-based game Crypto Unicorns, has appointed Andrew “Zyori” Campbell as its product and market growth lead.

Campbell previously served as director of esports for Axie Infinity, helping the popular game pivot as a viable esports title on web3.

Previously, Campbell worked as a professional esports commentator in communities such as StarCraft II and Dota 2, giving him a unique insight into consumer preferences and how competitive games drive and build communities around them.

In his new role with Laguna Games, Campbell will seek to help expand the Crypto Unicorns “multiverse”, which will include introducing unique NFT unicorn pets into new games.

Commenting on his decision to join Laguna Games, Campbell said he was impressed with the art style of the project and the company’s commitment to the DAO sector.

Campbell will be working closely with the product team and ensure that the user experience is up to par, while also engaging with the community in general.

Laguna Games is planning to expand the Crypto Unicorns ecosystem and introduce what the company hopes will be new types of gameplay.

Presently, the game has a unique gameplay experience and a great foundation of its universe, which Campbell and the company feel can be expanded to include more games while leveraging the company’s unique NFT products minted for Crypto Unicorns.

Meanwhile, rival Axie Infinity has faced a lot of pressure over the past few months. The company was attacked by cybercriminals and lost $600m. Some of this money was recently recovered by Norwegian authorities.
