Colorado continues push for blockchain in gaming

Chainlink teamed up with the state for a hackathon event which resulted in the creation of a new lottery game with a prize pool of $17,500. The event saw entries from IGT as well as ETHDenver and was another step forward in Colorado’s plan to cement its stance as an important provider of blockchain solutions.

Colorado Governor Jared Polis, said: “Last year we launched Colorado Digital Services to begin developing critical public-private technology relationships to position our state government as a tech leader, but more importantly to better serve our population through technology.”

Colorado is looking to introduce more blockchain solutions to its burgeoning gaming industry, without necessarily seeking to develop these games itself. According to the state, though, there is an inherent benefit in adopting blockchain technologies, including but not limited to public scrutiny and the ability to eliminate fraudulent transactions.

Chainlink co-founder, Sergey Nazarov, spoke to Cointelegraph and explained that the opportunity to work with the Colorado Lottery was valued by the company. He further added that “blockchains and oracles can be successfully composed to go beyond tokens and on-chain financial products (DeFi),” especially in markets that need to have iron-clad security.

While Colorado is still trying to find the right way towards online gaming and blockchain, there are many options you can try already. Bitcasino.io, FortuneJack and CasinoFair all offer state-of-the-art blockchain-powered gaming products.
