Chiliz and Atlético de Madrid expand their fan token partnership

The fan token will now be integrated into Atlético de Madrid’s digital platform

Sports entertainment platform Chiliz has expanded its partnership with renowned soccer club Atlético de Madrid. The collaboration will enhance the Atlético de Madrid Fan Token, improving accessibility to the token via the club's official app and digital platforms.

The partnership expansion also means that Atlético de Madrid Fan Token holders will now be able to take advantage of additional benefits and a wider range of rewards. In addition, fans that hold their tokens directly through the Atlético de Madrid will be able to access further opportunities for interactions with their favorite team.  

Furthermore, the ecosystem will be integrated into the Atlético de Madrid platform. The Beta version of the Fan Token Experience has already launched on May 13.

This move will introduce new features, which are specifically adjusted to cater to Atlético de Madrid fans. For example, Daily Fan Polls and trivia quizzes will be launched. Fans participating in those will earn points, which they can later use to grab various club-related rewards and experiences.

Atlético de Madrid fans that have not yet acquired any of the soccer club’s fan tokens can also use those points to redeem their first token for free.

The introduction of fan tokens into the Atlético de Madrid digital ecosystem signifies a major milestone toward deeper web3 technology adoption.

Alejandro Ugarrio, Director of Atleti Lab, commented on the partnership:

“We want to continue improving the experience of our fans worldwide and this new integration with is perfectly aligned with our strategy. We are very excited because, through our app, fans will now be able to access a very attractive proposition full of different types of benefits for them.”

Alexandre Dreyfus, founder and CEO of Chiliz and, also noted that the integration of fan tokens will increase the benefits available to the club’s fans. He further added:

“This is a significant step in the adoption of Fan Tokens and digital assets by tier-1 sports teams. By becoming the first club to integrate their Fan Tokens into its own native channels, Atletico are leading the way in delivering digital benefits to their fans while inaugurating a new stage in the Fan Token journey — one in which the utility will expand far beyond the app.”

Five years ago, Atlético de Madrid became the first Spanish soccer club to launch its official fan token. Since then, fans from over 120 countries have contributed to numerous fan-related club decisions by participating in voting polls.
