Earlier this year CashBet raised $38 million in what was the biggest ever crypto casino ICO. Now the team behind the igaming platform and accompanying CashBet Coin token has expanded its advisory board with the appointment of bitcoin pioneer Charlie Shrem.

Shrem is big news in crypto circles; a founding member of the Bitcoin Foundation and one of crypto’s earliest investors, with a following of more than 150,000 on Twitter.

And it appears he sees big potential for crypto in online gambling.

“Online gambling is a space that’s ripe for disruption. CashBet has an ambitious plan to couple a crypto-enabled software platform with state-of-the-art original iGaming content to provide crypto casino operators with a true one-stop solution,” he said.

“I’m especially excited because CashBet is one of very few crypto players that is fully licensed and regulated by top tier gambling jurisdictions. They’re really trying to legitimize the crypto casino experience.”

Also joining the CashBet advisory board are two senior execs with experience at some of gaming’s biggest companies.

Matteo Monteverdi, a former SVP at New York-listed IGT and Daniel Phillips, a former of head of operations at London-listed online Playtech also joining, brining with them a wealth of gambling industry know-how.

On the three appointments, CashBet CEO and co-founder Mike Reaves said: “Charlie’s depth of expertise in crypto innovation, along with Matteo and Daniel’s decades of experience in gaming are a powerful combination that will help us realize our ambitious vision of becoming the world’s leading blockchain-powered iGaming platform.”

CashBet Coin was trading down 10% at $0.056406 this morning, giving it a market cap of $5.5m.
