Bitget to use Messi to expand in LatAm

The exchange is looking to use its World Cup winning brand ambassador and unique features to expand

Cryptocurrency exchange Bitget is looking to expand its foothold in Latin America and plan to use brand ambassador Lionel Messi to do it.

Bitget, who are currently ranked 14th largest exchange in the world, have aims to climb up those rankings and Maximiliano Hinz, Bitget’s director for growth, believes South America could be the key to achieving these ambitions.

Hinz believes the exchange’s Copy Trading tool gives it an edge with novice traders, as it automatically mimics the positions and returns of seasoned traders at Bitget.

Hinz said: “We want to provide an alternative. Currently, you either buy crypto for the long run or need to be an expert. Most people trading on our platform have other jobs.”

Bitget partnered with Argentinian football legend and World Cup winner Messi in 2022, and recently released a film to celebrate the partnership entering its second year.

The exchange is looking to launch a local debit card in the region and is currently in its BETA testing phase after setting up an 80 person Latin America team with aspirations to double that in the next two years.

Brazil, the region's largest crypto economy, is looking to launch its new regulations in the next few months.

“In the case of Brazil, we must work in a regulated manner. Brazil is very important,”Hinz added.
